Nestled in the foothills of the Darling Scarp, and within minutes of Tonkin and South West Highways, Byford is ideally situated as a central base for those wanting a variety of experiences. From gentle immersion in nature, to celebrations with friends in the midst of urban buzz, activities with a unique country charm and interactive adventures, this region has it all!

Health and Happiness go Hand in Hand #

There’s nothing as invigorating as getting outside to stretch your legs and fill your lungs with fresh air. Byford residents and visitors get plenty of opportunity to do that!

Close to home is the Macora Walk Trail with expansive views over Kwinana and Perth. Here you can walk under soaring gum trees and between regal granite outcrops said to be hundreds of millions of years old. The Macora Falls and a number of historic sites add to the awe of this soul-enriching experience.

The splendour and majesty of nature is truly showcased at the Serpentine National Park which is a 25-minute drive from Byford. Here the magnificent Serpentine Falls is the centrepiece, with its pure waters tumbling into swimming holes and waterways which are surrounded by walking trails and places to simply sit to take it all in.

Araluen Botanic Park draws people from around the state, but those in Byford only have to drive 14 km! This 59-hectare park features native bushlands and 14 hectares of cultivated botanical gardens which you can wander through at your leisure or explore on walking tours before enjoying a picnic or bite at the cafe. The Yates Springtime Tulip Festival is a highlight here in Spring when 250,000 tulips and 50,000 bulbs create a breathtaking floral wonderland. Imagine the spectacle of so much beauty and colour!

All Creatures Great and Small

Cohunu Koala Park is a family-run wildlife sanctuary located 5km from Byford. This 14-hectare property is a serene haven for kangaroos, wallabies, deer, dingos and emus. Visitors can hand feed some of these residents and enjoy up-close encounters in a natural bushland setting or have a peek into their day-to-day lives from the miniature railway which runs around the park.

If you are looking for a really hands-on experience then we suggest a visit to the Jarrahdale Equestrian Centre which is a 15-minute drive away from Byford. At this family-owned centre you can go horse riding and have horse riding lessons, polocrosse lessons, and learn about these very special animals and what it takes to look after them properly. Here, minds and hearts find beauty in every way.
