Rockingham
This coastal city, less than a 30-minute drive from Beenyup, is bustling with activities, dining spots and wildlife attractions. Shoalwater Island Marine Park is located 500m offshore and is home to one of the finest displays of marine wildlife anywhere in the world. We recommend booking the wildlife safari expedition to see penguins, dolphins and sea lions up close. Food lovers are also well catered for in Rockingham, with an array of delicious restaurants and cafes along the foreshore. For those looking for a cultural experience, the Rockingham Historical Society and Museum is worth a visit, with an interesting collection of local artefacts and costume displays.

Araluen Botanical Gardens
Nestled in 59 hectares of native bushland, Araluen boasts various gardens that feature a diverse range of exotic plants and flowers that make for a stunning day out! The backdrop of Marri trees, banksia grass trees and ferns provide the perfect spot for a picnic with the family. We recommend visiting between August to October to catch their annual Tulip Festival and enjoy a kaleidoscope of colours from 50,000 Tulips, and 36,000 Spring blooms. There’s also guided walking tours and canvas art classes on offer.

Get Active
If an active day out is more your speed, then lace up your hiking shoes and get moving on one of the numerous hikes and walking trails in the area. We recommend checking out the Byford Walking Trail, Jarrahdale Heritage Town Walk and Kitty’s Gorge Trail. Add a visit to Jarrahdale Café & General Store after you’ve worked up an appetite to complete your perfect day out.
