With the winter school holidays just around the corner, it can sometimes be tough to continually come up with activities to keep the little ones entertained. Especially when it’s cold and rainy outside. Leave the school holiday fun to us and keep reading for some of the great holiday activities in and around Byford.

Cohunu Koala Park 

Located under 10 minutes from home in Beenyup, Cohunu Koala Park, is home to a range of unique Australian animals. Weather permitting you can walk through 14 hectares of bushland and discover talking parrots, dingoes, kangaroos, emus, deer, and of course koalas. The park is open every day from 10am until 4pm with children under 3 entering for free, children 3-13 years entering for $5 and kids 13 and older entering for $15. Discover more about the park here.

WA Museum 

If the kids have energy to burn and you want to make a day of it, why not venture 40 minutes into the CBD and pay a visit to WA Museum Boola Bardip. Meaning many stories in Whadjuk Nyoongar, Boola Bardip is a place to share Western Australia’s many stories. Open daily from 9.30am to 5pm, with all their eight permanent exhibitions featuring a hands-on element for the kids and the revolving exhibitions changing all the time, you’ll never hear cries of ‘I’m bored’. Armadale Reptile Centre 

Rain, hail or shine, Armadale Reptile Centre is the best destination to take the kiddos this Winter. Only a 10-minute drive away from Beenyup Grove, the centre houses a large variety of native reptiles and other Australian animals. With over 70 different species on display including lizards, turtles, frogs, fruits bats and tawny frogmouths, the centre is a great place for educating your kids about the local wildlife and the many ways of protecting the local fauna and flora.
